Vacuum vessels have an interesting part in industrial processes. Product can be de-aerated–this is best achieved in conjunction with a mixer, and the boiling point of a product can be changed when under either pressure or vacuum. Another use of vacuum vessels is in small localised sewerage systems.
Pressure and vacuum vessels may be fitted with heating or cooling jackets as well as insulated and clad with sheetmetal.
